The secret of living to 100
Three centenarians came together on Saturday, July 20 to celebrate their milestone birthdays at Tabor Village in Abbotsford.
Family and friends, along with all of the residents of the assisted living building where they live, gathered for cake and games as Gwen Gregorig, Velma Uren, and Helene Franz were honoured and celebrated.
When asked what it’s like to be 100 years old, Franz says “it doesn’t feel any different. I still feel like a spring chicken.”
Each birthday lady was presented with certificates on behalf of Mayor Henry Braun and Abbotsford City Council. These three women are still as fun and full of life as ever before and if there is one lesson she would like to pass on, Gregorig says it’s “to love one another.”
In lieu of gifts, these generous birthday ladies are asking for donations to Tabor Village’s new complex care Centre for Living Residence. ‘
If you would like to say “Happy Birthday” to these centenarians, visit Taborvillage.org and designate a gift for their 100th Birthday celebrations.
So what is the secret to living to 100? According to Uren, it is “fresh air, good food, hard work, and appreciating what you have.”
