The Alexandra Retreat & Events Centre is a non-profit organization located in the heart of Crescent Beach. With two distinct facilities, the Society has successfully served the needs of church groups and private organizations for decades.
Known by the community as Camp Alexandra, the 2.5 acre fenced property features a huge activity field surrounded by both heritage and modern buildings. The facility can accommodate up to 84 overnight guests which include cabins, lodges, lounges, halls, kitchens and activity rooms. Enjoy homestyle cooking prepared by the camp’s in-house caterers. Just steps from the beach, Camp Alexandra is the perfect retreat for groups looking for a spacious getaway in a rustic setting with modern amenities.
For daytime or evening events, Beecher Place is another great option. Located directly on the beach, guests enjoy stunning panoramic views of the ocean from the wrap-around balcony. Recently renovated, Beecher Place adds class and sophistication to any event. Included with each rental are tables and chairs for 80 people, a full kitchen and projector screen.
Whether you come for a day, or an overnight stay, Alexandra Retreat & Events Centre in beautiful Crescent Beach can accommodate your group’s needs. Proceeds from each stay are invested back into the community through programs, services, and special events.
This emphatic statement is most often heard in war movies when one army is crumbling under the onslaught of another, forcing the inevitable defeat of their foes. The surviving forces either fight to the death or ‘RETREAT!’
Ironically, I think the shouted axiom of the losing army is a great suggestion to help in the daily conflicts of ordinary living: retreat! That is, take time to rest, be with people who love you and can share with you a perspective you need, be still in the presence of the Creator and Lover of your soul. Consider the spiritual disciplines that can assist in bringing you the kind of space needed to dwell more readily with, and be aware of God’s presence and joy. Silence, solitude, community, study, frugality, service, prayer and so many others.
As you consider the strategic importance of retreating, consider places that are peaceful and safe for you to do so. Camp Squeah is a place built and maintained for just this purpose. To be a place of refuge for you to meet with Jesus and to know you’re loved!
Weaving together: three themes of reconciliation at the Sorrento Centre.
Reconciliation is a central theme of Christian life, and a major journey for people from South Africa to New Zealand to Canada.
The Sorrento Centre, a dynamic retreat centre in BC’s beautiful Shuswap that welcomes 3,500 guests annually, is weaving three themes in reconciliation drawn from the great covenant in Genesis 9. The covenant is three-pronged: Between God and humans, among humans divided by hatred, and between humans and the natural world.
During our five weeks of summer and at retreats throughout the year, we aspire to reconciliation with God by living deeply into our mission as “a holy place of transformation for learning, healing and belonging.”
In July, we received the global Biosphere designation from the UN’s Responsible Tourism Institute, signaling our commitment to environmental and social sustainability through sound practices on our 24-acre campus and 8-acre natural farm.
In June, we were welcomed into the Community of the Cross of Nails, a global community centred at England’s Coventry Cathedral, signaling our commitment to reconciliation amongst humans.

In addition to our summer camps, we have programs running year round with various retreats, and educational programs.
In addition to our own programming, each year Stillwood hosts close to 40,000 overnight stays. With a huge variety of meeting spaces, activities, and a fantastic culinary team – we are enthusiastically prepared to serve you.
Our facilities include hundreds of rooms located in our cottages, motel rooms, and lodges. In addition to our accommodations, Stillwood has meeting rooms that can provide a space for every unique need. Whether your group requires a small intimate meeting room or an event space that can handle more than 500, we can more than meet your needs.
As a Christian ministry aligned with the British Columbia Mennonite Brethren church, Stillwood’s goal is to engage everyone who comes through our gates to mature – spiritually, mentally & physically.
