Shaughnessy Heights United Church

First United Church Community Ministry Society and the Schein Foundation proudly present the 2019-2020 Roddan Jubilee Lectures dedicated to conversations on the housing crisis in Vancouver and beyond.

The first event of the series featured P.E. Moskowitz, author of How to Kill a City: Gentrification, Inequality, and the Fight for the Neighborhood (presented in October 2019).

Gentrification has been presented as an unexplainable and unsolvable phenomenon: cities change, people move out, rent rises, new coffee shops open. But there’s something much more nefarious going on behind the scenes. In their talk, P.E. Moskowitz elucidated the forces responsible for the corporatization of cities, and what we can do to stop them.
Our program continues in 2020 with presentations from:

Stéphan Corriveau, Executive Director, Community Housing Transformation Centre in Quebec; and

Stephanie Allen, Hogan’s Alley Advocate and Associate VP of Strategic Business Operations & Performance at BC Housing, at 7pm, Tuesday April 21, 2020.

About the series:

All are welcome and we appreciate the broader community’s support promoting the series. To help spread the word you can:
