SongStage is an event showcasing experienced songwriters in the format best described as the Nashville “in the round” style. Songwriters sharing their songs and stories about the songs being performed. The stage is setup with 4 songwriters working in a rotation, with each presenting a song, then moving to the next songwriter, which offers a variety of songs within 2 rounds, followed by a short intermission and then another rotation to complete the concert evening.
Hillary Grist: Grist’s signature brand of firefly folk is said to be dipped in dreamy, jazzy art pop, which envelopes her dulcet, often delicate vocal delivery. The result is a blend of styles that borrows from acts such as Feist, Norah Jones, and Neko Case without being derivative of any single one.
Chris Ronal: Now living in Vancouver, Canada, contemporary folk singer-songwriter Chris Ronald emigrated from his native England in 2002. Influenced by countless British and North American artists of the 60s onward, Ronald’s music has been described as “Canadian folk with British roots,” and The Province likened it to “the country and folk that came out of Laurel Canyon and the British Isles in the mid-seventies.”
John Bowman: John Bowman, has release 3 CDs and is now freed from regular employment, John is writing more songs, playing more often at various venues in the Greater Vancouver area, and working harder on learning the craft of songwriting, including working more with other songwriters.
