Telecare’s 30th Anniversary Celebration
Date(s) - 18/10/2019
Emmanuel Christian Reformed Church
Since 1989, compassionate, dedicated and trained volunteers have responded to calls made to the Telecare line. During the past 30 years, there have been thousands of times people have reached out needing to connect with someone to whom they could unburden their feelings. Callers experience emotions including fear, anxiety, sadness, hopelessness and loneliness, to mention a few. The volunteers are trained in active listening. Many of the callers call on a regular basis needing connection and reassurance. At times, the volunteers will refer to different community agencies and counselling, and in some instances where suicide is being considered, will call 911 on the callers behalf. Telecare is a Christian based ministry and as such all of the volunteers are Christians and scripture reading and prayer is readily done.
We are grateful to God for His faithfulness over the past 30 years and invite you to join us on October 18th as we celebrate this special milestone.
Abbotsford’s own Ryan McAllister will be performing!
Keynote speaker for the event is Mark Eshleman, Registered Clinical Counsellor with Cedar Springs Counselling with offices in Langley and Richmond.
Refreshments will be provided.
