Music for Life Institute, a Christian non-profit organization, home of the internationally acclaimed African Children’s Choir™ is currently seeking a Full Time Accounting Clerk for our Surrey, BC location.
This position is part of a dedicated team that experiences the joy of working behind the scenes to help Africa’s most vulnerable children today, so they can help Africa tomorrow.
The ideal candidate should be a team player, be extremely motivated, responsive, resourceful and able to complete tasks independently.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Accounts Payable tasks, including coding, data entry and communicating with vendors
- Facilitate recording of credit card expenses
- Wire transfer journal entries
- Creation of other journal entries as required, including bank, payroll and other accounts
- Prepare and file GST and PST returns
- File all invoices and general finance paperwork
- Code and enter Weekly Choir Expense forms, including Gift Card reports
- Assist with month-end reconciliations, including intercompany and interfund reconciliations, reconciliations of credit card statements and expense reports, and other accounts as deemed necessary
- Assist with working paper preparation for year-end audits
- Data entry for transactions in QuickBooks for stand-alone subsidiary, including entering of inventory levels
- Ensure compliance to Company policies and procedures
- Assist with special projects as needed
Requirements:
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge and experience in the following areas:
- Minimum 2 – 3 years’ experience working with the complete Accounts Payable cycle
- Skilled in the use of MS Word and Excel, and a working knowledge of QuickBooks
- Knowledge of fund accounting considered a strong asset
- Experience with Blackbaud’s Financial Edge a definite asset
