Dedicated to Developing the Total Athlete

Position Type: Full Time, 40 hours/week: 12 month internship (8 months Campus, 4 months Youth)

Ministry Overview
Athletes in Action (a division of Power To Change) is a ministry that seeks to collectively as well as individually, help people know Jesus and experience his power to change the world through sport. No matter what type of work those involved with AIA do, whether they are staff or volunteers, we understand that our work collectively is to further this overall mission. Athletes in Action is a team on mission who lives out three Core Values: We are passionately committed, live in authentic community, and we play together.

Position Overview
All AIA Staff are responsible for aiding in the fulfillment of the mission and vision of Athletes in Action in their respective spheres and beyond. Our hope is to see a world transformed by the gospel through sport and we labour with God to see this happen.

During the campus season this role consists of helping those in varsity athletics discover Jesus, grow in their faith, develop their unique potential and put their faith into action as they impact the world.

During the camp season this role consists of creating spaces for young children to hear and know Jesus through the implementation of summer sport camps with partnering churches in the area. These sports include soccer, basketball, volleyball and multi-sport . Through their position, coaches will engage with athletes from the grassroots level, all the way to competitive athletes at the end of their high school careers. Coaches will be expected to combat negative views of sport culture with the gospel, while inspiring churches to reach their local community.

Primary Objectives:
1. Share the gospel and disciple to deeper maturity student athletes on their faith journey
• In partnership with AthleteConnexion and working alongside your director, provide care for
athletes through discipleship and evangelism opportunities.
• Equip students to become spiritual leaders in training how to share their faith, identify gifts for
kingdom impact and how to live out their Christian faith.
• Assist with and attend National Training Camp, Retreat, and campus team meetings

2. Intentionally live out your faith and share your testimony to a variety of people
• Apply age and skill appropriate teaching techniques for sport specific skills and physical
literacy.
• Work closely with the Regional Director, coaching team, church volunteers and additional AIA staff to ensure the children are cared for, the community is reached and the gospel shared.
• Attend coach’s training, camp meetings and orientations.

3. Use your skills and abilities to help run a successful camp experience
• Assist in organizing events to give more athletes an opportunity to hear about Jesus, become a
part of AIA, or to make a decision to follow Jesus.
• Assist in planning summer AIA Camps to help bring the gospel to children across the region.
• Participate and present stories from ministry at both campus and camps team meetings

*This position requires Ministry Partner Development where the successful candidate will be required to build a team which provides financial and prayer support for salary and ministry expenses including benefits coverage.
