Open Doors launches Children’s Prayer Passport

July 1, 2025 by P R Leave a Comment

World Watch kids

Open Doors, a global ministry serving persecuted Christians for more than 70 years, has launched a powerful new tool to help children become prayer warriors for the persecuted Church: the World Watch List Children’s Prayer Passport. The colorful, interactive resource introduces children to real stories of faith and courage while helping them understand the global reality of Christian persecution – making prayer personal, practical and world-changing.

Each year, Open Doors releases its World Watch List, a ranking of the top 50 countries where Christians face the most severe persecution. Of the more than 380 million Christians worldwide who endure high levels of persecution and discrimination for their faith, over 310 million live in just these 50 countries.

“In a world where millions of believers face violence, rejection and discrimination simply because they follow Jesus, we believe even our youngest Christians can make a meaningful difference through prayer,” said Ryan Brown, CEO of Open Doors US. “This Prayer Passport is one of the most innovative and important ways we’re empowering families and children to join in God’s global work.”

The World Watch List Children’s Prayer Passport invites kids to become “World Watchers” – young prayer partners who learn about persecuted Christians and track their journey across the globe with maps, flags and country-specific prayer requests. Each page of the passport includes:

  • Child-appropriate information about persecution and how it impacts Christian children
  • Country-specific prayer prompts
  • A map to track the countries prayed for
  • Interactive activities like coloring flags and collecting “passport stamps”
  • Creative ways to engage with global prayer
  • Space to write out personal prayers

By combining education about world geography and culture with action, the Prayer Passport helps children grasp that even though they may never meet the people they pray for, God knows them – and their prayers matter. It also sensitively explains the unique challenges Christian children face in persecuted countries, including bullying, displacement and the need to keep their faith secret.

The Prayer Passport is perfect for:

  • Families cultivating a global prayer mindset
  • Sunday School and children’s ministry programs
  • Homeschool families teaching about global Christianity
  • Grandparents looking to engage deeply with the next generation

Based on Colossians 4:2: “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful”  this new initiative is part of Open Doors’ broader mission to raise awareness, mobilize prayer and stand with persecuted believers in more than 70 countries.
