Back on the streets for the 4th Annual event
It has been five years since the last annual March4Jesus in Surrey and this year they were back on the streets and in the park. The marchers began the 1 km walk along University Drive to Holland Park where they were greeted by the Caribou Hill Marching Band. It was a full day of worship and praise with a variety of languages and cultures represented. Organizers were grateful to Surdell Party Rentals and Skipjack Audio for the sponsorship towards the sound and staging of the festival event. There were 12 churches and organizations providing family-friendly activities throughout the day and Worship Road Radio provided a playlist of music for the marchers. The greatest participation was from local ethnic churches who contributed free food and came with a large number of members with their families.
The full parade with floats was cancelled last minute and Organizers decided to walk on the sidewalks this year but hope to be able to raise funding for next year’s Sept. 20, 2025 parade on the streets of Surrey. March4Jesus chair Julia Poole says, “We needed more participation and sponsorship to raise the more than $10,000 needed to march on the streets. We were able to raise all the funds needed to rent the sound and stage equipment and are thankful to our local sponsor Apple Security for contributing security for the safety and success of this year’s event.” Those who came were prayed for and blessed. It was a beautiful day of gathering to praise and worship to the Lord! Poole adds, “it takes many volunteers and funds to put on a full day of entertainment free to the community but our God provided all we needed to bring the March4Jesus back to Surrey.”
If you are willing to plan next year’s community ministry event please contact Julia Poole at march4jesussurrey@gmail.com. More than 200 invitations were sent out this year. The date was moved from the summer to early September to allow more participation from the churches. It is challenging to find a time when everyone is free but hopefully, the advanced notice will bring more churches together to plan for the annual event. Poole says, “We have commitments for more to join us next year.”
Tax-receipt donations can be made through eTransfer to giving@punjabichurch.ca Make a clear note that the eTransfer funds are designated to the March4Jesus. Poole says, “Our vision is to bring the churches of Surrey together for an annual day of worship and praise and to show our unity in Christ, love, and blessings for our community. We look forward to having more join us next year on Saturday, September 20, 2025.”
