The start of a new school year brings excitement, fresh beginnings, and plenty of questions for families. How do we help our kids thrive academically, emotionally, and spiritually? At BC Christian Academy, we believe the answer lies in a simple but powerful idea – putting on love.
Inspired by our theme verse this year from Colossians 3:12–14,
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones… compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience… And above all these put on love,”
we want to share some fun and heartfelt tips for parents as your family steps into this new season.
1. Start with kindness at home: Set the tone with little acts of kindness – maybe a special note in a lunchbox or a morning hug. Teaching kids to practice patience and compassion at home helps them carry that love into their classrooms and friendships.
2. Build routines that nourish: Good habits are a game-changer! Establish consistent sleep and meal times, carve out homework slots, and don’t forget time for play and rest. When kids feel cared for, their minds and hearts open up for learning.
3. Talk about forgiveness: School can bring challenges – misunderstandings, frustrations, or conflicts. Use these moments to gently remind your children about forgiveness and grace, just like the verse says. Helping kids learn to forgive builds strong, loving communities.
4. Celebrate creativity and curiosity: Encourage your child to explore their God-given talents – whether it’s art, music, sports, or science. At BCCA, students get to do just that, learning in a Christ-centered environment that nurtures both skills and faith.
5. Get connected: Families thrive when they feel part of a community. Engage with teachers, attend school events, and encourage your child to participate in activities that build friendships and confidence.
As you embark on this school year, remember that love isn’t just a feeling – it’s a choice we make every day. At BC Christian Academy, we’re grateful to partner with families to create a place where students grow in faith, learning, and character, all wrapped in the beautiful bond of Christ’s love.
