“We cannot continue to send our children to Caesar for their education and be surprised when they come home as Roman citizens.” – Dr. Voddie Baucham Jr.
This quote highlights the deep concern many Christian families share about the current state of education in Canada. In 2022, recognizing the growing need for alternatives, the Canadian Christian Education Movement (CCEM) was founded when Christian leaders from across Canada came together to discuss education. CCEM operates under the umbrella of a parent organization TeachBeyond, a global mission that works in over 80 countries around the world in Christ-centered education.
CCEM encourages Canadian churches to consider how best to serve families regarding the education of their children, helping churches empower parents and congregants to take action. The team at CCEM comes alongside local churches to establish local Task Forces to explore, pray for and research Christ-centered educational programs. Churches can be involved in helping congregants consider various educational models, including homeschooling support groups, before- and after-school programs, parent-participation playgroups or daycare, preschools, or K-12 schools. CCEM supports church communities in building awareness for educational alternatives without burdening overworked pastors, offering ongoing professional support and resources at no cost to participating churches.
It is possible to see every Canadian church engaged in Christ-centered education in some way, shape or form to serve their community. The Church is mandated to instruct followers of Jesus Christ and disciple future generations. Acknowledging Christ in education is central to the Church. Parents are the primary caregivers and educators of their children.
The Canadian Christian Education Movement boasts a strong network of representatives across the nation. These dedicated individuals serve as valuable resources for families and churches seeking faith-based educational options. From coast-to-coast, representatives are readily available to provide guidance and support, answer questions, and help families find education solutions that align with their Christian values.
