Dear Pastor,
As Pastors, you and I are Kingdom People. We have a Kingdom message and a Kingdom responsibility to uphold and present the Word of God to this lost and broken world. It is my conviction that we need each other if we’re going to maintain a Christian witness in our country!
That’s why I’ve written this open letter to you. Canada needs our collective Christian witness more than ever before. We need more churches – not fewer. I’m grieved every time I see a church close down to become a restaurant, a residence or a retail-centre.
We are on a mission to save the last existing church in Crescent Beach, Surrey.
In April of 2021, through a series of miracles, in the midst of a global pandemic, God provided a way for All Saints Community Church to save the little white historic church building in the heart of Crescent Beach by purchasing it from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese.
Christians have been praying and worshiping in this building since 1946 and our vision is to see this continue for generations to come. Plans are currently with the City of Surrey for renovation of the building, while maintaining its historical integrity. We intend to add two new washrooms, repair the floor and floor foundations, upgrade the heating and plumbing, repair the chimney and rebuild the front porch.
The church’s unique location provides an opportunity to reach the local residents of this prestigious seaside enclave and to be a point of Christian contact with literally thousands of people who come to this popular area recreationally. The street front aspect of the building, positioned as it is among popular restaurants and coffee shops, makes it a place of attraction and historic interest and grabs the attention of those who stroll by. In fact, a good number who now call All Saints home came to be part of the congregation through a casual encounter because of the location of the building.
It would be such a tragedy if Crescent Beach was to lose this building and its Christian influence. Would you consider helping us to save this unique church?
We need $2,000,000 to pay off our friendly loans and an extra $1,000,000 to pay for the cost of repairs and renovations. My desire is to leave the church in the hands of the next generation debt free.
Would you consider joining us in this Kingdom venture as we step out in faith to serve the community of Crescent Beach and the thousands of others who God brings to the area?
I believe there are many Kingdom-minded pastors in the Lower Mainland who would consider this a worthy project. In fact, some of you have already told me so! After you have checked us out, I urge you to consider contributing to this cause. It’s a large amount of money, but God is the God of the impossible. For the sake of the Kingdom would you and your team pray about this project and consider making an effective contribution.
I thank you for the work you do for the Kingdom of God. I count it a privilege to partner with you in the Gospel. Of course, should you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
The peace of our Lord,
The Rt. Rev. Peter Klenner
