From PAIN to PURPOSE

A Voice for the Voiceless

Abortion remains unrestricted in Canada, with over 100,000 procedures performed annually. Since 1988, Canadian taxpayers have funded more than 3.3 million abortions. In 2023 alone, Health Canada allocated $36 million – including $4.2 million through the Sexual and Reproductive Health Fund—and to organizations like the Contraception and Abortion Research Team (CART) and Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights, both of which advocate for expanded abortion access. Meanwhile, pro-life voices and organizations struggle to survive.

Yet every life matters to God. Psalm 139:13–14 declares, “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Science affirms that life begins at conception. When sperm and egg unite, a spark of light occurs, and all the DNA for a unique human being is present. By 4 – 6 weeks, the heart is beating; by 8 weeks, organs are formed; by 9 weeks, the baby’s sex can be determined and there are tiny arms, legs, fingers and toes. This is not a potential human being – it is a human being with potential.

Abortion not only ends the lives of these little people – it also deeply wounds the women who undergo it.

Denise Mountenay didn’t grow up in a Christian home. She was raped at the age of 13, her virginity was stolen. At 16, she became pregnant by her first love and wanted to keep the baby – but her mother insisted on an abortion. Trusting her family, doctors, and society, Denise was never told the truth about fetal development or the risks involved.

In her twenties, she faced another unplanned pregnancy. After experiencing severe side effects from birth control and pressure from her partner, she was coerced into a second abortion. Her doctor told her she was nine weeks along and pointed to a dot on a page, calling it “just tissue.” This abortion was done while she was fully awake, it was physically and emotionally devastating – leaving her feeling violated all over again.

Struggling with depression, addiction, and shame, Denise had a third abortion during a time of deep personal crisis. Eventually, she began seeking answers – asking, “Is there a God, and who is God?” She started attending church, repented of all her sins, and wailed at the revelation that abortion killed her children!  She was born again and baptized. One night in her Toronto apartment, she had a powerful encounter with Jesus Christ and her three aborted children: Jennifer, Daniel, and Rebecca. Each child forgave her. That moment transformed her life.

God called Denise to share her story – to expose the lies surrounding abortion and bring light to the darkness. She questioned, “Lord, seriously, you want me to go public, who would ever want to marry me?” But God had a mission for her, and He was faithful. For the past 37 years, she has been a tireless advocate for life. She’s spoken across Canada and around the world, including at the United Nations in New York and Geneva for over 17 years. She combines personal testimony with scientific evidence to reveal the humanity of life before birth and the lasting harm abortion causes to women’s mental, spiritual, and reproductive health.

Her work highlights over 61 peer-reviewed studies linking abortion to breast cancer, increased risks of premature births, and higher rates of suicide among post-abortive women. Denise personally knows four women who took their own lives after abortion – the pain was simply too great.

She’s been arrested for peaceful protests, sued for $1 million by Canada’s most notorious abortionist, and authored two national bestsellers. Her mission has taken her to Australia, Africa, China, the Philippines, Russia, Europe, and across North America.

Ten years ago, she co-produced an award-winning documentary. Today, she’s nearing completion of a new, more powerful feature film: TRUTH MATTERS: The Impact of Abortion. This documentary features medical experts and women’s testimonies, exposing deception and offering truth with compassion. It’s designed to change hearts, equip believers, save lives, and bring healing to those suffering in silence.

Denise praises God for the overturning of Roe v. Wade – but knows the war continues. Most women are pressured or misled into abortion. They deserve to know the truth. Children are a blessing – not a burden. And there is hope and healing for every woman who has walked this path.

From pain to purpose—this is my calling.

Exciting Update: TRUTH MATTERS Is Almost Complete!

We’re thrilled to share that production is now 75 percent complete on our powerful new feature documentary, TRUTH MATTERS: The Impact of Abortion. This film includes moving interviews and footage captured at the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York and in Florida earlier this year.

🎥 (116) TRUTH MATTERS -TRAILER – YouTube  we pray it stirs your heart.

This documentary boldly exposes deception and shines light on the truth – bringing hope, healing, and a voice to the voiceless. It has the potential to save thousands of lives created in the image of God.

My husband and I have personally invested $35,000 in this film. A faithful doctor who heard my testimony in Australia is covering the $28,000 for sound and film editor.  But now, we need your help to finish strong.

Our award-winning cinematographer has done a great job! Would you prayerfully consider sowing into this life-saving project? We still need to raise $200,000 to complete subtitles in multiple languages, launch marketing and distribution, and bring this film into the marketplace—for such a time as this.

Every gift matters. Every prayer counts. Together, we can change hearts and save lives.

Thank you, Light Magazine, for speaking out about abortion.

We must protect unborn babies, take care of women in crisis, and, wherever possible, minister to fathers.

This is what many crisis pregnancy centres do, and I encourage readers to please find and support them.
